2023 Retrospective

Life isn’t so predictable these days, is it!? Looking back over our year certainly brought up some memories that we thought had happened years ago. As eventful as it was, though, we have survived another crazy year at Astley Vineyard, and we think we are ready for another!

The MOST notable thing that happened last year was the birth of Chris & Matleena’s son, Arlo, which really makes us look at these numbers in a different light. Although we clearly did a lot last year, 2022 was always going to be about surviving the addition of a newborn. Projects & events were put on hold, so we are very happy with how we managed. We hope you get to meet Arlo one day!

The other highlight of our year was having our Sabrinna named The Best Value Still Wine in Tim Atkin’s England 2021 Report (by Tom Hewson). We don’t enter many competitions, so this one really blew us away ???? (250 bottles remaining ????)

Our cellar door continues to be the main outlet of our wines due to the continued lower than average yields we have experienced recently. However, our Saint Vincent was sold at Grace & Savour for most the year, and The Forest Side still serve our Sauvignon Blanc.

Tours are still a huge part of what we do, and we saw a large growth in private events; tours & otherwise. We aim to grow the events side of our business next year – keep an eye out for updates.

Thank you for your ongoing support – it really does mean a huge deal to us!

We’ll have an update on our 2023 plans soon.

Chris, Tim, Bev, Matleena, Arlo, Otso
